Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner hitting new iPads and iPhones

Insider sources reveal that Apple plans to fit the Touch ID fingerprint scanner into all of its 2014 devices – the iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3.

We’re big fans of Apple’s fingerprint scanner, or ‘Touch ID’, which is built right into the iPhone 5S’ home button, and now it looks like the nifty scanner will show up in all of Apple’s mobile gadgetry in 2014. The good news comes courtesy of KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who also noted that future Touch ID pads will use tin components for a more durable build.

Apple's Touch ID fingerprint scanner will hit 2014's iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3

Last year’s iPhone 5S was the first Apple device to feature the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, and while Apple hasn’t officially announced any of its 2014 line-up, we’d expect it to include the iPhone 6, a new full-sized iPad Air 2 tablet, and a new baby-sized iPad Mini 3.

Ming-Chi Kuo is a credible source on Apple-related news, and has already predicted that Apple will release plenty of new gear at the end of the year. He also correctly stated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 would rock a fingerprint scanner before it launched back in February.
