The user profile for an unknown Samsung Windows Phone device has been found online boasting a Full HD screen.
Nokia’s Lumia line is effectively the only family of Windows Phone handsets worth considering right now. They feature ongoing support from Microsoft, constantly receive new and exclusive apps from Nokia, and from the plucky little Lumia 520 up to the mammoth Lumia 1520, there’s something for everyone.
Samsung did make a brief appearance in the market around the launch of Windows Phone 8 with the Samsung ATIV S (a somewhat rushed handset based on Galaxy S3 underpinnings) and in the US the ATIV Odyssey and ATIV Neo for Verizon and Sprint respectively. Following lacklustre sales, however, they company’s Windows Phone project went quiet, leaving Nokia to dominate the space all by itself.
So why now? The user agent profile (UAProf) spotted by sammobile.com reports that a device called the Samsung SM-W750V features not only a 1920×1080 display, but also uses Internet Explorer as its primary web browser. The inclusion of a Full HD screen has only been made possible as a result of the GDR3 build of Windows Phone 8 having been released
The Nokia Lumia 1520 was the first device to make use of this new flexibility and perhaps Samsung was biding its time until it felt it could put powerful enough hardware into a product that it feels it could sell.
Bluetooth testing is also in progress but it’s unclear as to whether this new Sammy will ever make it to an official stage of release be that in the US or Europe. We’ll keep you posted with any developments.
