Fans of Gameloft’s ever-expanding line-up of high definition mobile games probably already know about Gameloft Live! the portal into the Gameloft community where you can compare scores and chat with fellow players.
Now available as a standalone app for Android phones, the Gameloft Live! app allows you to purchase games through the app – instead of having to go through Gameloft’s mobile site – which is a real plus.
You can also create a 3D avatar and keep in touch with other gamers by sending them messages or chatting over IM.
By earning in-game achievements, you can spend virtual money on tricking out your avatar with all sorts of accessories and items. In some ways its very similar to the Xbox Live app for Windows Phones and iOS devices.
You can download an early non-Market version (check that Unknown Sources box in Settings > Applications) now if you want to have a go. It’s 12MB-odd and you’ll need to download some additional data (Wi-Fi only) as well.
We understand that the Gameloft Live! app will be headed to the Android Market soon, with a version for iPhones coming to the App Store round about the same time.
