Vodafone have switched from the (relatively) portly Galaxy Tab 10.1v to the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
The UK phone network’s official website is now showing the thinner, different tablet.
Vodafone was announced back in February as the exclusive launch partner for the original 10.1, but following Samsung’s re-imagining of their tablet
We were told that the UK would still be getting the older version, but Vodafone now looks like it’ll be offering the thinner model.
The tablet’s ‘re-imagining’ was said to have been forced by Apple’s iPad 2, which set the new waterline for tablets- somehow both faster and thinner. They went back to the drawing board and came back with the Galaxy Tab 10.1. (Confusingly, the original is currently known as the Galaxy Tab 10.1v.)
Aside from the waistline differences, the 10.1 comes with a front-facing 3-megapixel main camera, whilst the 10.1v has 8-megapixel snapper. Both have a 2-megapixel front-facers, so any difference in video calls should be minimal.
The Tab 10.1V was set to arrive in 16GB and 32GB editions, whereas the Tab 10.1 will come in 16, 32 and 64GB versions. The new Tab 10.1 also has a microSD slot, and can take cards up to 32GB in size.
We haven’t been given a release date for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 yet- though the new Samsung tablet will be on sale from today in the US, online and at a single store in New York, Times Square. Fingers crossed, we’ll get one into Recombu Towers soon for review.
