The predicted Summer launch of the next iteration of Apple’s iPhone may slide to September according to an industry analyst.
A story posted on Yahoo! Finance explains how the company may break from its usual June/July launch cycle due to parts shortages and late orders.
FBR Capital Markets analyst Craig Berger said in a note “For the iPhone 5, we continue to hear that a July launch is unlikely, with various casing suppliers and touch suppliers still ramping up, with some chip vendors not having yet received firm iPhone 5 orders, and with other sockets like the image sensor still in flux. Given these factors, we think a September launch is more likely, off from Apple’s traditional iPhone launch schedule, but giving the firm more time to enhance its next-generation instant communications on the phone.”
According to Burger’s contact Apple plans on manufacturing 100 million iPhone during calendar 2011.
Shame, oh well at least the iPad 2 can give us a decent reason to head down to the Apple store and spend our hard earned pennies. Hope for more details on iPad release date at the March 2 event in San Francisco. Could be we learn about the iPhone 5 as well…
