Orange are set to offer yet another affordable Android handset. This is the LG Pecan, and it will be coming to pay-as-you-go soon.
Already up on their online shop, the Android phone will already have version 2.2 (Froyo) and there are even rumours of NFC technology, according to Korean news site, ET News.
The website also expects the phone to make a hands-on appearance at next week’s phone industry event, Mobile World Congress.
This could fit in well with Orange’s own NFC plans. We reported last month on Orange’s NFC SIM cards, being co-developed with Barclays Bank. We’re not sure yet how an NFC SIM would interact with an NFC phone, or whether the Peacan is simply ‘compatible’ with the forthcoming SIMs.
The LG Pecan will have a 3.15-megapixel camera, and that will also be able to record video, no specs yeton what sort of quality we can expect from it. The LCD screen will have a resolution of 320×480- not the most vibrant-sounding screen.
The curiously-rounded Pecan will offer 5 hours talk-time and 14 days on standby. Probably due to that battery, it will weighs 130g, and is a sturdy 13.3mm thick, compatible with the new EC charger standard, microUSB.
Price predictions range from £89 to £125, and that sounds about right to us. No word of any monthly contract deals- it seems to be pay-as-you-go only at the moment. We’ll be giving you a hands-on review as soon as it comes in.
