1 in 5 motorists name their car… pass us a bucket

1 in 5 motorists christen their car with a name, according to a new study. Are you part of the group?

A study carried out by DMEautomotive has revealed that 1 in 5 American car owners have named their cars, with most of that 1 in 5 being female aged between 18 and 24 years old. 23 per cent of women were likely to name their cars, compared to 18 percent of men. Car owners in their late teens and early twenties are four times more likely to name their cars than someone over 55.

Jermaine. Yesterday.
Jermaine. Yesterday.

So what kind of names are we talking about here? Fluffy? Rex? Nope. The most popular names are Baby (4 per cent), Betsy (4 per cent), Bessie (3 per cent), Black Beauty (2 per cent) and Betty (1 per cent). WTF?

According to the study, most women see their cars as female, whereas men are evenly split, so there are twice as many ‘female’ cars on the road then there are ‘male’ ones.

So would you name your car? Or have you already done so? Let us know by posting in the comments below.
