VW has announced the price of the 2014 Polo hatchback.
The 2014 VW Polo will go on sale in the UK from April 23rd. Prices start from £11,100 for the new German hatchback, which benefits from a new range of engine options and a new touchscreen infotainment system.
A 1.0-litre MPI with 60 or 75PS, 1.2-litre with 90 or 110PS and a 1.4 TSI with cylinder deactivation and an increase of 10PS in power to 150PS make up the range of petrol engines. The diesel options are a 1.4-litre TDI with either 75 or 90PS. All engines benefit from up to a 23 per cent increase in efficiency.
VW has equipped the new Polo with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system. All UK models benefit from the upgrade, which adds Bluetooth and USB connectivity. A larger 6.5-inch display with built-in navigation is an optional extra on the SE trim for £700. MirrorLink lets you control and display certain apps on the infotainment display for an additional £150.
Five trim levels are available. Bottom of the range is S, which includes a 5.0-inch touchscreen display, SD card reader, DAB digital radio, cup holders and USB and AUX in connections. SE adds 15-inch alloy wheels, body coloured door handles, leather steering wheel, the larger infotainment display and manual air conditioning.
SE Design adds larger alloys, a black gloss radiator grille and door mirror caps, dark-tinted tail lights, cloth upholstery and front sports seats. SEL introduces front fog lights, front and rear parking sensors, illuminated front footwells and a front centre armrest with storage.
The most pimp 2014 VW Polo is a BlueGT. It comes with 17-inch alloys, unique body styling, 15mm lower sports suspension, sports seats trimmed in a blue cloth and Alcantara, XDS electronic differential lock and cruise control to name a few additions.
The 1.0-litre MPI 60PS, which is capable of 60.1mpg, with a 5-speed manual gearbox starts from £11,100 rising to £19,715 for the 1.4-litre TSI ACT 150PS with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
The most frugal option is the 1.4-litre TDI in 75 or 90PS form, starting from £14,645 for the 5-speed manual. It can manage 83.1mpg and CO2 emissions of just 88g/km.
