More customisation options available for the 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, while the SDV8 engine gets a torque boost.
The 4×4 powerhouse that is the Range Rover and its lairier Range Rover Sport cousin have been updated for 2015. Improved performance, more interior gadgetry and greater levels of customisation will be the order of the day when the new models go on sale on July 16th, 2014.
All models will now feature Land Rover’s InControl infotainment system as standard. The new system allows the driver to send an SOS Emergency Call if they bite off more terrain than they can chew and can even track the vehicle in the event of a theft.
There’s also interior WiFi for up to eight devices simultaneously, while InControl Apps make it possible to sync a smartphone with the touchscreen so you can make use of Android and iOS apps on the go.
Jaguar Land Rover is offering two new exterior colours – Aruba Silver and Kaikoura Stone – and, in the case of the long-wheelbase Range Rover, the option of 22-inch alloy wheels that would make Dr Dre envious. You can also now specify a fixed panoramic roof for letting the light in and power blinds for keeping it out.
The 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel now benefits from an extra 40Nm of torque. A total of 740Nm of torque is available from as little as 1,700rpm, on top of the unchanged 339PS (334bhp). A revised eight-speed automatic gearbox deals with gear changes. Fuel economy and CO2 emissions remain the same, at 32.5mpg and 229g/km respectively.
Jaguar Land Rover also announced the Range Rover Autobiography Black Long-Wheelbase will be landing in the UK, complete with either 21-inch or 22-inch unique alloys, LED tail lamps, redesigned seats, exclusive interior and exterior trims and mood lighting.
Go for the optional ‘Executive Class’ package and you can enjoy fully-adjustable seats, a re-designed centre console with deployable leather tables, enhanced stowage space, bespoke lighting and USB charging sockets to keep your gadgets going.
“These latest updates ensure both vehicles maintain their market-leading positions, with a special focus on performance, efficiency and increased personalisation options,” Jaguar Land Rover group marketing director Phil Popham commented. No word on whether prices have changed, if at all.
