Alfa Romeo Mito and Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde details and images

High-performance Alfa Romeo Mito and Giulietta ‘Quadrifoglio Verde’ models set for Geneva debut.

Alfa Romeo has two high-performance versions of the Mito and Giulietta up its sleeve. The Quadrifoglio Verde versions, which in Italian means cloverleaf, will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The 2014 Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde (QV for short) features Alfa Romeo 4C‘s 240hp 1750 turbocharged petrol engine. It produces 340Nm (250ft/lb) of torque between 2,100 and 4,000rpm, helping propel it from 0 to 60mph in 6.6 seconds ─ an improvement of 0.2 seconds on the current car. 149mph is the top speed.

The Alfa Romeo Mito QV has a 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol, which develops 170hp and 250Nm (184ft/lb) of torque from 2,500rpm with the Sport mode engaged. In Natural or All-weather mode the torque figure drops to 230Nm (169lb/ft). 0 to 62mph takes 7.3 seconds and the top speed is 136mph.

Fuel economy for the Mito QV is impressive at 52.3mpg and 124g/km of CO2 emissions. That’s a 10 and 11 per cent improvement, respectively, compared with the older model.

Both new models feature Alfa’s TCT six-speed twin dry-clutch transmission, which lets you change gear with a gear level or flappy paddles on the steering wheel.

A new fuel intake has been added to the Giulietta QV to improve the engine note as well as four-piston Brembo brakes with 320mm front discs, alloy wheels, side skirts, rear spoiler and the Quadrifoglio Verde emblem on the front wings.

Interior extras include leather and Alcantara sports seats with one-piece backrests, new instruments, new leather steering wheel, leather gear and handbrake levers, black roof lining, aluminium sports pedals and special floor mats. There’s also a UConnect infotainment system and 5-inch touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity as standard.

Standard extras for the 2014 Mito QV include air conditioning, twin chrome exhaust tailpipes, sports rear bumper, 17-inch alloy wheels, Brembo brake calipers in red, rear spoiler and the same QV emblem to indicate its sporty pedigree. It also has cruise control, sports steering wheel and the UConnect infotainment system.

A special edition Giulietta Quadrofoglio Verde, of which only 100 will come to the UK of a 500 car production run, has a carbon spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, front and rear sports air dams and side skirts plus either an Alfa Red, Competizione Red or Matte Magnesio Grey paintjob.

A price and the full UK spec for both models will be announced later in 2014.
