Audi has announced a special edition Audi R8 V10 Plus that celebrates the success of the R8 LMS GT3 car at the Nurburgring 24 Hours race in Germany.
Just 24 Audi R8 V10 Plus ‘selection 24h’ cars are being built, each one with ‘competition-inspired styling’, sports exhaust and magnetic ride adaptive damping for improved ride quality.
Styling enhancements include a Suzuka grey paintjob with Mythos black detailing and Misano red accents, a nod to classic Audi livery.
Gloss carbon fibre has been used for the front spoiler, engine compartment cover, rear wing and diffuser, while the sideblades – complete with a unique ‘R8 24h’ logo – are get the matt treatment. 20-inch forged aluminium 10-spoke alloys, meanwhile, come in a gloss anthracite black.
The interior has undergone some fettling to include gloss carbon fibre reinforced plastic air vents, a matt-finish R8 24h logo and a unique serial number for each of the 24 cars. Owners can also enjoy full leather upholstery in rotor grey with Alcantara headlining.
Other standard features include dynamic steering and Audi’s laser lighting for a brighter view of the road at night and entry lights on the doors that project the Audi R8 logo on the ground so you don’t accidentally walk into the car at night.
The engine output is unchanged, meaning 610PS and a 0-62mph of 3.2 seconds. Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system and a naturally-aspirated 5.2-litre V10 guarantees savage pace whenever you want it so although a tune-up would have been nice, the lack is excusable.
Audi has won no less than 323 overall wins using the R8 LMS, the new version of which debuted in 2015 and emerged victorious in its first race at the Green Hell.
