BBC on Top Gear: LeBlanc, Reid and Harris will host 2017 series

Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid are set to be the main presenters of Top Gear, the BBC has announced.

The BBC confirmed Matt LeBlanc will return to host Top Gear on BBC Two alongside Chris Harris and Rory Reid, all of whom were far better received than ex-host Chris Evans.

LeBlanc has signed a two series deal with the BBC, the cost of which is yet to be revealed. Meanwhile Eddie Jordan, Sabine Schmitz and The Stig will make ‘regular appearances’, as they did in series 23.

“I am thrilled that Matt LeBlanc is returning to Top Gear,” BBC Two channel editor Patrick Holland said. “He’s a huge talent whose love of cars is infectious. I can’t wait for the series to return to BBC Two next year.”

BBC Studios director Mark Linsey added: “Matt was hugely popular with Top Gear viewers last series with his humour, warmth and obvious passion for cars and for the show, so I couldn’t be more delighted that he’s agreed to come back and do more for us.”

Series 24 of Top Gear is scheduled to return in February 2017. Rory Reid confirmed he will still present Extra Gear, a spin-off of the main show. Harris will continue to present his YouTube show, Chris Harris on Cars, which was acquired by the BBC.

A new host was rumoured to be joining Top Gear – the favourites being celebrity chef James Martin and British Formula One driver Jenson Button – but it seems that rumour can now be put to bed once and for all.

Jeremy Clarkson’s rival show, The Grand Tour, was recently given a release date. It will air on the 18th of November 2016. Here is exactly how to watch it.
