Brabus 850 6.0 Cabrio wants to be the fastest four-seater convertible… in the world

Remember that 838bhp Brabus coupe monster? There’s now an open-top version that is said to be the world’s fastest and most powerful four-seater cabriolet.

That’s a lofty goal but then Brabus specialises in turning AMG’s already hot creations into fire-breathing scorchers. In this case, the 5.5-litre V8 has been increased to 5.9 litres and two massive turbochargers have been bolted on to seriously increase the power.

The result is a mindblowing 850PS or 838bhp, in addition to 1,069lb/ft of torque. Such is the level of torque at all four wheels, Brabus had to dial it back to a still utterly ridiculous 848lb/ft – with all of it is available from 2,500rpm.

0-62mph takes 3.5 seconds so it will upset just about every sports car and its 217mph top speed will make enemies of supercars, too. And it’s only been limited to that figure because of the strain on the tyres, which would probably rip themselves to shreds.

Brabus has managed to keep the 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio relatively low key by keeping the styling upgrades modest, although it’s still very obviously a Brabus. Think lots of carbon fibre, beefy exhaust, relatively tame Brabus bodystyling and a choice of various alloy wheels ranging from 18 to 22-inches in size.

The Brabus 850 6.0 Biturbo Cabrio can be bought as a whole car or you can donate your S63 AMG and let them make all the revisions. We have approached Brabus for a price for both options.

For a rough idea, the hard-top version costs €218,239 (around £167,000) before tax or €342,288 (around £263,000) for a ‘fully equipped car’. The engine conversion costs €69,900 (£53,700) plus €4,900 for installation before tax.
