Citroen has extended its city car range with the introduction of the C1 Furio, which has been designed to give younger drivers something sporty and insurable.
Sporty in looks, at least, as the Citroen C1 Furio comes with a choice of two plucky powertrains, a VTi 68 with 67bhp and 70lb/ft of torque and a PureTech 82 with 81bhp and 86lb/ft. Both are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Just a three-door version will be available, adding to its sporty credentials, which include 15-inch ‘Planet’ alloy wheels, bold exterior graphics, Sunrise Red door mirrors, rear diffuser, central exhaust outlet and either a Lipizzan White or Carlinite Grey metallic paintjob.
The C1 Furio, which is based on the Feel trim level, continues the motorsport-esque theme inside the car, with what Citroen calls ‘Wave’ grey cloth upholstery and a good-old fashioned rev counter.
Previous motorsport-inspired cars from Citroen include the 1990s Saxo Furio, AX Sport and the C2 ‘by Loeb’, named after the famous rally driver, Sebastien Loeb. It will go up against the likes of the Skoda Citigo ‘Monte Carlo’.
Citroen said the C1 Furio will go on sale on the 1st of August, 2016, priced from £10,855 for the 1.0-litre VTi 68 and £11,205 for the 1.2-litre PureTech 82. Orders are open now. An entry-level C1 starts from £8,145.
