Ferrari SP FFX one-of-a-kind is a Marmite machine

The latest result of Ferrari ‘Special Projects’ has been revealed.

A red Ferrari is about as beautiful as it gets for a petrolhead — in theory, at least. But not everything with a prancing horse on the front is desirable. Case in point: the one-of-a-kind SP FXX. Look away now if you’re easily offended.

The SP FFX was built as part of Ferrari ‘Special Projects’, a programme that lets wealthy clients design a bespoke Ferrari. Previous creations include the Ferrari SP12 EC built for Eric Clapton.

Reports say the SP FFX is built on the four-seater, four-wheel drive FF production car. That means a 651bhp 6.3-litre V12 mated to a 7-speed automatic is likely, although the FFX naming could suggest the client asked for more than just styling improvements.

The image was reportedly published in a Japanese motoring magazine before ending up on the Internet. Ferrari has since confirmed to AutoCar the image is real, although the official model name is still unconfirmed. Only the SP FFX name trademarked back in October 2013 provides a clue.

Ferrari said it will only release further images and details if the client gives the go-ahead. For now, you can only guess how deep the modifications go beyond the white detailing and alloys.

To be fair to Ferrari, it has obviously done as it was asked and the client is probably a very happy and slightly poorer chappy. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.

Those who want a personal touch but lack the funds for a full one-of-a-kind can use Ferrari’s Tailor Made programme, which gave us the 458 ‘Niki Lauda’ edition.
