Ford Vignale Mondeo yearns to be posh

Ford has given us a glimpse of a new trim level aimed at buyers who are, as the company puts it, “time-poor, independent thinkers who want to be made to feel special”. If that’s you, read on.

Any Mondeo with a Vignale badge comes with 20-inch alloys, quilted leather upholstery, dashboard and door cappings, luxury floor mats, embossed scuff plates, a slim, Vignal-badged storage compartment in the boot and in-car WiFi so the kids can surf the Internet on their iThingies.

The exterior is also a little more ‘pimp’ than usual, thanks to a mesh grille, unique bumper, chrome door handles and mirrors and that slightly iffy brown paintjob, which you will either love or hate. A brown Mondeo? No thanks.

Owners will also benefit from special Vignale lounge areas at selected garages – although we hope you won’t need to visit too often – and a personalised dealer. You’ll even get your car washed and vacuumed for free for the lifetime of the vehicle, saving you quite a bit of Fairy liquid.

Other equipment includes the Ford SYNC and MyFord Touch infotainment system and all the functionality that affords, including navigation, apps and hands-free communication.

The Ford Mondeo Vignale will go on sale in 2015 for an undisclosed price. We’re guessing all the extra luxury will cost a pretty penny, but only time will tell.

After that, a number of other Ford models, including the S-Max, will then benefit from the new trim level.
