How about a one-of-a-kind, multi-million pound Ferrari F12 TRS convertible to start your day?
We’ve seen a few inspiring creations from Ferrari’s Special Project program that creates one-of-a-kind lumps of Italian beauty, but nothing quite like the F12 TRS, which made its public debut at the third Ferrari Cavalcade in Sicily.
This custom-built Ferrari F12 TRS was created at the request of a rich client who wanted an utterly mental two-seater, open-top Ferrari. It is inspired by the much-revered 1957 250 Testa Rossa, which took home gold at Le Mans and the Nurburgring, and was designed by Flavio Manzoni and the Ferrari Style Centre team.
Ferrari has managed to remove the roof without hurting the F12’s staggering performance. 0 to 62mph (0 to 100kmh) takes 3.1 seconds and 0 to 124mph (0 to 200kmh) only 8.1 seconds. You can thank a naturally-aspirated 6.3-litre V12 that delivers 690Nm of torque and 731hp for such blistering pace.
Ignoring the lack of a roof, the F12 TRS has a few other modifcations. It has a low, wraparound windscreen, side glass windows, for starters, while the ‘aerobridge’ front wing of the F12 Berlinetta has been re-sculpted.
Inside it looks as if somebody half-inched the interior. Ferrari has removed the audio system, central vents, audio system, window controls, glove compartment and storage areas to put the F12 TRS on an unhealthy diet. Even the number of cockpit buttons has been reduced, such is the goal of outright performance.
At least it has black matt carbon-fibre, leather and Alcantara materials and the same Ferrari red on the central tunnel and door panels to make the lucky owner feel somewhat comfortable while tearing around a track or through Sicilian countryside.
That reminds us. Even the paintjob is special because it was developed using ‘multi-layer and micalised paint technologies’. So long as it’s red, Ferrari, you can do what you like.
Previous Special Project Ferraris include the not-so-drool-worthy SP FFX and the SP12 EC (EC stands for Eric Clapton). Ferrari also runs a Tailor Made program to add a touch of personalisation for much less money. The 458 ‘Niki Lauda’ edition is an example.
