Meet the remote control car that is faster than a Jaguar F-Type

‘R/C Bullet’ remote controlled car lives up to its name with a frankly astonishing top speed.

If you think you’ve seen a fast remote controlled car, think again. Remote control expert Nic Case recently published a video of his ‘Bullet’ remote control car travelling at a speed that makes real cars like Alfa Romeo 4C and Jaguar F-Type R Coupe look slow.

The one minute and seven seconds YouTube video uploaded on March 23rd shows R/C Bullet performing two speed runs at an unknown location. During the first run it clocks 182mph as it passes the speed test equipment.

Not content with an already ridiculous top speed, Bullet has a second go. This time the orange and blue toy that looks like it should be on Robot Wars clocks 188mph – making it the fastest remote control car on the planet and faster than the 186mph F-Type R Coupe. Nic Case held the previous record of 171.96mph.

R/C Bullet is pretty far removed from that Rebound toy you had back in the nineties. It is basically a 1:10 scale model of a land speed record machine. Its door wedge shape helps it cut through the air and use downforce to keep it on the ground, while carbon fibre wheels and all-wheel drive provide traction.

188mph is impressive for a car with proper wheels, let alone a toy. Just think, the wheels are spinning ten times faster than they would on something like the jet-powered Bloodhound SSC, which is hoping to break the 1,000mph barrier in 2015 and 2016.

‘Proper’ remote control cars like the Traxxas X01 can quite easily hit 100mph but nudging 200mph (a record Nic is likely to hit one day) is a different kettle of fish entirely. Watch the video and try to avoid blinking when R/C Bullet goes past faster than Roadrunner.
