miDrive app finds the ‘best’ driving instructors, saves you £300

A new app called miDrive claims to save learner drivers £300 on passing their driving test, by finding them the ‘best’ driving instructors.

Fed up with your rubbish driving instructor? miDrive is a new app for iOS which can find you the ‘best’ driving instructors in your area, listed by price and rating. This way, you can figure out which driving instructor is best for you by matching up your needs with what they offer. The app also offers tips and test hints to take away the stress of learning to drive. These features, according to miDrive, can reduce the amount of lessons taken and save you as much as £300.

The makers of the app carried out a survey of over 800 driving instructors and found that learner drivers need an average of 39 one-hour lessons to pass their test. The survey revealed that 85 per cent of instructors believed a good relationship between an instructor and their pupil is likely to reduce the number of lessons needed to pass, and that the ideal pairing of a learner and an instructor can reduce the number of lessons needed to pass from 39 to 27.

This could save learner drivers £300 (going by the average price of £24 per one hour lesson).

The app provides a list of fully qualified driving instructors based in your area. The instructors’ profiles include photos, prices and reviews from previous pupils. You can also search for your current driving instructor to see how they rank against the competition.

As well as finding the best driving instructors, the app also provides tips, test hints, articles and videos to help learners revise for their theory test. The app also tracks your lesson routes and logs how many hours and miles of practice you have had.

Simon Hagger, CEO and Co-Founder of miDrive, said: “With the right instructor, access to the best learning materials, support and motivation we believe that learners can be on the road in just 30 lessons.”

miDrive is available to download for free from the Apple App Store.
