New Hyunda i20 pictures and specs

A few details and pictures of the new Hyundai i20 supermini have been released ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October 2014.

The new Hyundai i20 – designed in Europe – is based on a new platform. The wheelbase has been increased by 45mm to 2,570mm over its predecessor, improving space in the cabin for the maximum of five occupants. Boot space is up to 326 litres with the rear seats in place.

Hyundai has fitted a number of new technologies to the new i20, including a panoramic sunroof that can both tilt or fully open, depending on how much air circulation you want. There’s also an integrated rear-view camera and rear LED lighting.

An upright chrome hexagonal grille, which sits lower for design and engineering reasons, gloss black C-pillars and a thin horizontal grille between the headlights with LED daytime running lights help give the i20 a more distinct look. It’s long, too, at 4,035mm – 65mm longer than the new Ford Fiesta.

No doubt more specific details such as a UK price, engine line-up and full specs will be unearthed as we head towards October 2014. Until then, we present to you three images.
