Police ram wrong-way drunk driver off the road

Police had to ram a drunk driver off the road to prevent a more serious accident on the A3.

Surrey police officers were left with little choice but to force Perri Game’s car into a spin for fear the drunk driver would collide with someone while driving on the wrong side of the A3 near Ripley.

Game was not seriously hurt, though she was taken to hospital to be checked. She was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. The 21-year-old admitted in court to dangerous driving and drink driving. In addition to a £630 fine, she’s been given four months’ jail time and lost her licence for three years.

Inspector Mallett confirmed that the crash had been reported to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), as is procedure.

Recently, police at a crash scene witnessed ‘rubbernecking’ drivers on the opposite carriageway illegally using their mobiles to snap pictures of the accident. Papping the motorists in return, the police have vowed to prosecute those who were involved.
