Radical makes some extreme track cars, but the bar is about to be obliterated by the SR8 RSX, a 440hp track destroyer – if you are willing to front up the £109,950 asking price.
The Radical SR8 RSX’s kerb weight of 860kg and 3.0-litre V8 that produces 440hp and 280lb/ft of torque make for a frightening mix. 0 to 62mph will take less than three seconds and no doubt melt your face in the process, putting it in the company of the Ariel Atom 3.5R.
A seven-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, six-pot calipers paired up with 350-mm discs at the front and 310mm at the rear and either 17- or 18-inch alloys wrapped in Dunlop SP tyres compliment the absurd power to weight ratio.
It also comes with a AIM MXG data logger for mapping your performance on the track, water resistant bucket seats (no roof, remember?), seven-inch TFT display, LCD dashboard and, for the first time, electrically power-assisted steering.
Radical says pre-orders are open now and deliveries are expected in early 2015. If you’re brave enough to buy one.
Find the V8 a tad scary? There’s always the lesser-specced 1.5-litre SR3 RSX with 210hp that delivers a still impressive 0 to 62mph time of 3.1 seconds. Prices start from £66,958 for this model.
