Say hello to the new Maserati Quattroporte

Maserati has announced an overhaul for the Quattroporte sport saloon, three and a half years after it was launched.

The new Maserati Quattroporte benefits from a few relatively minor design changes, including a new front and rear bumper with matte black detailing and matte black side skirts and exterior mirrors.

An electrically adjustable Air Shutter can be found in the front grille, which controls the level of air going in through the air vents to improve cooling while reducing aerodynamic drag by 10 per cent.

Maserati has adjusted the interior, too, by adding a high resolution 8.4-inch touchscreen display in a new centre console, which sees the climate control, screen and new drawer all located together for ease of use.

The lower section of the centre console has also been redesigned to include a rotary control for the volume and function control, new lid and a new phone storage compartment that are said to help simplify the cockpit.

A Ferrari-produced 410hp 3.0-litre V6 petrol with 550Nm of torque, 275hp 3.0-litre diesel with 600Nm and the Quattroporte GTS’s 530hp twin-turbo V8 with 700Nm makes up the engine range. 0-62mph takes the GTS 4.7 seconds – four-tenths faster than the 3.0 V6 petrol.

All engines are mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic while suspension duties for the new Quattroporte, which features a 50:50 weight distribution, are taken care of by electronically-controlled Skyhook shock absorbers.

Another new addition is the range strategy, which encompasses three trim levels: Standard, GranLusso and GranSport. GranLusso, available for all V6 powertrains and the V8, adds a luxury touch in the form of a more comfortable interior with leather, wood and silk used throughout.

Exterior revisions for the GranLusso includes 20-inch Mercurio alloy wheels, chrome bumper, body coloured spoiler and black brake calipers.

GranSport, also available on all V6 engines and the twin-turbo V8, goes for a sportier look that adds 21-inch Titano alloy wheels, glossy black bumpers, red brake calipers, blue Tridents on the wheel centres and an aggressive rear spoiler.

As for the GranSport’s interior, expect redesigned front and rear seats, a new sport steering wheel in carbon fibre or full leather and high gloss Piano Black wood trim on the dashboard.

An Exterior Carbon Pack is available for those who want carbon fibre door mirrors, door handles, front bumper and B-pillar covers.

The entry-level Quattroporte diesel starts from £70,510, rising to £78,910 for the GranLusso and GranSport. Go for the petrol equivalent and prices start from £82,750 for the S rising to £91,150 for both the GranLusso and GranSport S.

As for the range-topping GranLusso GTS costs £115,980 regardless of whether you go for one of the two new trim levels. Orders are open now.
