Want a car that really captures the attention of pedestrians and other road users? Lexus has something for you – paint that reacts to the rate of your heart.
The special electro-luminescent paint – created by paint specialist Luminor – is shocked by an electrical pulse triggered every time the driver’s heart beats, creating a visual display that changes as you become more or less exhilarated. It was applied to a one-of-a-kind RC F sports car.
The idea was created as part of a collaboration between Lexus Australia and creative agency M&C Saatchi. It is said to be the world’s first paint job of its kind – and has made this particular RC F the worst car on the planet for dogging.
Lexus Australia Chief Executive Sean Hanley said: “This latest concept follows other innovative projects we have developed this year, including smart outdoor advertising billboards that respond to the car you’re driving and the fantastic new Lexus Hoverboard.
“The heartbeat car also links to another key part of Lexus – high performance vehicles – via our F marque models, and the emotional responses a machine like the RC F can inspire in a person.”
We think it’s safe to say this won’t be a standard option on future Lexus models, but never say never.
If you think that is slightly bonkers, Lexus is also working on a hoverboard.
