This is what the new Kia Rio could look like

Kia has released a sneaky look at the new Rio hatchback ahead of its world premiere at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, which begins on the 29th of September.

Though Kia is obviously holding back the juiciest details for the fourth-generation Rio, it was kind enough to release three photos and a few details of what to expect.

The new Kia Rio is said to benefit from ‘straight lines and smooth surfacing’ that give it ‘a distinctive new character’. It also has a longer front overhang and bonnet, longer wheelbase and upright C-pillar so it should offer greater interior space.

Kia has also promised ‘class-leading’ practicality and safety technologies, improvements to the connectivity features and a ‘more assured and engaging ride’ with superior handling characteristics. Hopefully that means less dull.

More than 473,000 Kia Rios have sold worldwide in 2015, making it a popular, if lacklustre, hatchback supermini that comes with a generous warranty. Rivals include the Ford Fiesta and VW Polo.

The fourth-generation Rio will enter production towards the end of 2016 in Europe, Kia said. Production timings for the UK will be announced closer to the launch.
