Zender Abarth 500 Corsa Stradale concept is fast, furious

Zender usually makes bodykits for German car manufacturers, but as the Zender Abarth 500 Corsa Stradale concept shows, it also likes to dabble with Italian motors every once in a while.

The Zender Abarth 500 Corsa Stradale concept is a bodykit for the already stylish Fiat 500 Abarth. It includes flared wheel arches, a new front and rear bumper, custom side skirts, arch-filling 18-inch alloy wheels that match the white paintjob and a hefty rear spoiler. Did we mention much of the kit is made from lightweight carbon fibre?

This is far from subtle but then again, neither is the engine. Its 1.4-litre four-cylinder has been cranked up to 11. Output is 236bhp – 76bhp more than standard – thanks to a larger turbo, upgraded engine management system, new exhaust, modified camshafts and pistons, larger fuel pressure regulator and a revised fuel injection system.

Zender claims all that fettling results in a 0 to 62mph sprint of 6.5 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than the standard 500 Abarth. 0 to 124mph takes 24.7 seconds and top speed is 144mph, instead of the usual 130mph.

Helping you harness all that extra power are reworked suspension of the height-adjustable coilover variety and Pirelli P Zero Black tyres, while the stainless steel pedals, custom door sills and custom two-tone orange and black leather sport seats make this particular 500 Abarth more than a bit special.

Sadly, there are no plans to turn this concept into a reality ─ so we’ll have to badger Zender until it changes its mind. Failing that, turn up to its factory with a suitcase full of money.
