Amazon has expanded its IMDb-powered X-Ray movies feature to select TV shows.
The X-Ray service allows Kindle users to tap on an actor on screen and find out which flicks and shows they’ve starred in.
The service uses the IMDb database to power it. It will now support popular shows on Amazon Instant Video including Justified, Downton Abbey, The West Wing, Sons of Anarchy, Falling Skies, American Horror Story, Grey’s Anatomy, Doctor Who, The Walking Dead, Lost, Glee, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.
So you’d be watching an episode of Downton, click on Maggie Smith and then find out that she’s also starred in the Harry Potter films, Ken Russel’s rather rude 1971 outing The Devils and the original 1981 Clash of the Titans.
Currently the feature will be exclusive to Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD and Amazon Instant Video app for Wii U. To use it. Viewers tap the “Includes X-Ray” before watching a video. At any show during a show, tapping on the screen brings up another window displaying all cast members in the current scene. Tapping on a name brings up a full filmography of the actor in question. Hitting play resumes the video.

Amazon hasn’t said if or when the feature will be made available for iOS or Android devices. Col Needham, IMDb Founder and chief executive said that he hoped to make X-Ray available for every movie and TV show.
