Moving house? Direct Save slashes broadband line activation fees

Budget broadband provider Direct Save will offer free line activation and low-cost line installation when you move into a new home.

The free re-activation offer is available when customers sign up to an 18-month deal and commit to paying £1.95 a month, plus £15.95 line rental, for unlimited broadband usage with speeds up to 76Mbps and free evening and weekend calls included.

If you don’t already have a phone line in the property, you’ll only have to pay £29.95 for a new one to be installed if you plan to sign up to an 18-month deal.

Direct Save Telecom CEO, Stavros Tsolakis said: “We thought it was about time a deal was put in place for UK movers, as line activation and new line installation have been far too expensive for far too long.

“Movers can now enjoy free line activation, and low-cost line installation, when they sign-up to our £1.95, 18 month deal. Movers will not be able to find a better deal in the UK.”

Those who don’t want to commit to 18-months, such as students, can sign up to a rolling 28-day unlimited broadband deal, costing £16.95 a month and including free evening and weekend calls, free set-up, and a free wireless router, but you’ll have to pay £118 for a new line to be set up.

This is however, considerably cheaper than BT, which charges £130 for a new line to be installed in a property, whether you’re signing up for a high-value 18-month deal or not.

TalkTalk offers its HomeMove service for customers moving house, which lets you set up a moving date in advance and gives you £25 for not changing providers.
