Freesat has added the kid-focussed on-demand service Hopster to its suite of streaming apps on Freetime.
Hopster costs £3.99/month and gives kids and parents access to the likes of Paddington Bear, Babar, Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom and Super WHY!
The service arrives during half term time on the company’s connected TV platform which also lets viewers access catch-up content from CBBC, CITV and Milkshake! though the iPlayer, ITV Player and Demand 5 apps. 
Hopster is a contract-free service, meaning you can add it on a per-month basis, perfect for half terms, Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. For the next month, Hopster will be free for 30 days for Freesat customers.
Emma Scott, Freesat’s Managing Director, said: “We are thrilled that Freetime is the first TV platform to launch Hopster. This is our first dedicated children’s On Demand player and shows just how committed we are to giving families the programmes they love, ready to watch when they are.
“We already offer families a great range of children’s telly and introducing Hopster provides even more choice, from classics like Bob the Builder to the much loved Angelina Ballerina.”
Hopster’s CEO added that the service wants to make TV more engaging for children and in an ad-free and safe environment that will only show age-appropriate programming.

Hopster launched in May this year, boasting a bigger selection of family-friendly content than Netflix, which has acquired streaming rights to a brace of popular animated hits.
The Freetime on demand service features a range of content including films, news, sport and children’s entertainment from providers including Curzon Home Cinema, BBC News and BBC Sport.
Catch up players BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD (soon to be renamed All 4) and Demand 5 are also accessible through the backwards-scrolling EPG or from a dedicated on-demand menu.
