Freesat has launched two new channels, London’s popular LBC radio station and the Holiday & Cruise channel.
LBC radio has been accessible on Freesat boxes for ages but to get it you’d need to enable non-Freesat mode. Now it’s available to listen in on Freesat channel 734 alongside other radio stations. LBC 97.3 FM, to give it its full title, can also be found on Sky (0112) and Virgin Media (973).
Regular listeners will remember LBC as the place where deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg put the kibosh on the unpopular Communications Data Bill.
Read Recombu Digital’s guide to FreesatAs well as being able to tune in to LBC anywhere in the UK, Freesatters can also enjoy the new Holiday & Cruise channel on channel 409.
The package deal-focussed channel has been available to Sky viewers (284) for a while and serves up a selection of holiday and cruise deals for viewers.
Both channels should be available on your Freesat programme guide now or following a quick scan.
Freesat is available virtually anywhere in the UK and doesn’t suffer from reception issues in the same way Freeview does and is subscription-free, unlike Sky. You get access to over 150 channels and if you want a smarter experience you can pick up Free Time from Freesat, which gives you access to BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 content on-demand from the programme guide or from a separate sub menu, where there’s also a YouTube app.
