Machinima announces Xbox One launch app to launch November 22

Machinima will launch a companion app for Xbox One when the console launches in November.

The app, which Microsoft partnered on to bring it to the console, offers in-game guides, reviews, and video content alongside gameplay.

It uses the Xbox One’s “snap” functionality, which allows players to pin the app to one side of the screen while game takes place on the same screen. The app will give games access to videos that provide everything from game walk-throughs, game reviews, help videos and more.

Additionally on offer is an enhanced Snap experience for select Xbox One titles called “Wingman”, that will provide richer, custom-created and exclusive videos to complement gameplay and offer everything from in-game help and tutorials to strategy videos.

The app will also work with Kinect so you can issue commands to it instead of using the controller.

“This new and improved Machinima app will take advantage of the Xbox One platform capabilities to give gamers an unparalleled experience they can’t get anywhere else,” Machinima director of business development Matthew Cohen wrote in a blog post on Xbox.com.

In addition to the Snap experiences, Machinima is also launching an Xbox One SmartGlass experience on November 22, giving users a second-screen companion which allows you to keep a game full-screen on the TV while you receive a sidekick Machinima experience on your smartphone or tablet.
