It’s official, MotoGP is moving from the BBC to BT Sport in 2014. All 18 grand prix plus qualifiers, warm ups and practices will be BT Sport exclusive.
All of the MotoGP races including Moto2 and Moto3 will be shown on BT Sport for the next five years. As well as coming to the BT Sport channels, the forthcoming BT Sport app will let race fans switch to alternate camera angles on their phones and tablets, including angles showing each rider’s point-of-view of the action.
BT Vision and BT YouView customers will also be able to access any MotoGP action they miss on an on-demand basis.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport said: “The agreement with MotoGP is really exciting. We want BT Sport to offer a wide range of sports that appeal to many different audiences and MotoGP is a thrilling sport with a massive and committed fan base in the UK and Ireland. We believe existing fans will be thrilled with our comprehensive coverage and how we intend to develop the MotoGP brand and think we can also help the sport win many new fans.”
The MotoGP 2013 season will be the last MotoGP season shown by the BBC for the forseeable future.
A BBC spokesperson said: “We are very proud of our Moto GP coverage and submitted a competitive bid to retain the broadcasting rights beyond our current contract. We will continue to bring great content to our audiences for the rest of this season.”
“We believe that we have brought the sport to a new, wider audience,” the spokesperson added. “We would like to thank our production teams for the contribution they have made in raising the profile of the sport in the UK.”
BT Sport launches on August 1, and will be available to BT Broadband customers with BT Vision and BT YouView as well as Sky TV customers with a BT Broadband subscription.
