Need For Speed and Skype to star in Samsung’s IFA 2014 smart TV showcase

Samsung has announced the new games and apps it will be showcasing at 2014’s IFA tech show in Berlin next month.

The Korean tech manufacturer will launch Need for Speed Most Wanted, Real Football 2014, Golf Star and Skype for the platform, ensuring every member of the family is satisfied.

The games will be available to download via Samsung’s Smart TV Games Panel that was launched at CES in January, and gives users access to games they can control by the TV remote or on their smartphone.

Won Jin Lee, executive vice president of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said: “At Samsung, the television is more than just a screen – it is a window to the world, providing new experiences, new discoveries and new possibilities. 

“Samsung customers will be able to enjoy even more entertaining and easy-to-use content on the Samsung Smart TV.”

Need for Speed Most Wanted has been developed by Gameloft and will allow you to race on your TV, just as you would want to on a games console.

Real Football 2014 is a games sim from Gameloft and reportedly includes ‘improved graphics and animations’ – it’ll also allow you to create, play and manage your football players and teams.

The third sport-inspired game is Golf Star that takes your swing to the screen with, we’re told, physics-based gameplay.

Finally, Skype will allow you to make and take calls in HD quality, using Samsung TVs with built-in cameras. Incidentally, your webcam-equipped Smart TV could help digital burgulars break into your home.
