Netflix nabs Arrested Development exclusivity via 20th Century Fox deal

Netflix has nabbed exclusive streaming rights to Arrested Development in the UK and Ireland via a deal with 20th Century Fox.

“Arrested Development is one of the finest American comedies in TV history and we are incredibly excited to bring it back for British and Irish fans,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. “We’re continuing to add all kinds of great content for our UK and Ireland to enjoy when and how they want it,” he added.

As well as available to stream from your PC or laptop as standard, we understand that Arrested Development and the rest will be coming to Netflix on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Wii plus a number of Smart TVs and Blu-ray players.

Similar to the deal done with streaming rival LoveFilm last week, the Fox deal will see Netflix subscribers able to access a wealth of popular TV shows, including Sons of Anarchy, Modern Family and the US remake of The Killing.

Fox staples such as 24 and Prison Break – which have only just come to LoveFilm – were already part of Netflix’ catalogue since the launch of the streaming service this side of the Atlantic.
