Tado slates app-based home cooling air-con control launch for 2014

German-based start-up Tado will launch a smartphone control system for home air conditioning systems later this year.

Tado said it plans to launch its Cooling App, that will intelligently control air conditioning in a broadly similar way to its recently launched Heating App system.

Like the Heating App, the Cooling App will enable your smartphone to communicate with air conditioning devices throughout the home.

“We want to offer the advances which we have developed for the tado° Heating App to customers in warmer regions of the world who are struggling to use their AC efficiently,” said Christian Deilmann, co-founder of Tado.

Early adopters and technology enthusiasts who have any kind of air conditioning at home or in the office are welcome to sign up at www.tado.com/CES to be one of the first beta users.

“We look forward to working together with beta users to give this new category the final touches,” said Deilmann.

Already available in Europe, the firm is launching its Heating App for the American market at CES this year .

This app aims to help consumers cut the costs of their energy bills by monitoring the house and weather conditions, and adjusting the internal temperature accordingly.

Home heating control is a breakthrough market, with British Gas currently marketing its Hive smartphone control system across British media. Recombu tested British Gas Hive in December 2013.
