The Cloud serves up free Wi-Fi in Greene King pubs and restaurants

The Cloud serves up free Wi-Fi in Greene King pubs and restaurantsThe Cloud, not content with providing free Wi-Fi to hundreds of JD Wetherspoons and All Bar Ones across the UK, has inked a deal with the Greene King pub chain.

2,400 venues will now benefit from free Wi-Fi along with pints of pale ale and packets of crisps.

Unlike some of the Cloud’s hotspots which require you to log in via Sky’s Cloud app, Wi-Fi will be free to use for all customers in Green King pubs, restaurants and hotels, with no time limits.

This follows on from popular reception of Wi-Fi in 300 Greene King venues. Last month, The Cloud says that over 5 million megabytes of data were downloaded on this 300-strong network, which equates to 1.25 million MP3 downloads (at 4Mb).

Vince Russell, Managing Director of The Cloud, said in a statement:

“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Greene King reinforcing our position as the provider of choice for fast, reliable Wi-Fi access in the nation’s favourite pubs. As tablet and smartphone penetration continues to climb so customers increasingly demand great connectivity whether to keep in touch with emails, sharing the excitement of great sporting moments via social media or even keeping the kids entertained. We look forward to working with Greene King and our other partners as we continue to deliver new innovative services for them and more importantly their customers.”

The Cloud now has over 10,000 hotspots around the UK which is used by an estimated 4m people a day.

Sky customers can automatically hook up to the Cloud’s network on the go thanks to the iPhone, iPad and Android apps available now.
