Android 2.3 Gingerbread delayed for HTC Desire HD customers on Three

Earlier today we heard that HTC Desire HD owners on Three were getting a proper miff on about not having Gingerbread on their phones just yet, despite it rolling out to other networks already.

We’ve been in contact with both HTC and Three today to try to find out what’s going on, when the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will actually be arriving and what you’ll need to do to get it.

Three has just got back to us with the following statement: “We apologise for the delay to the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS update. Due to software bugs we couldn’t bring the updates to our customers at the end of May. We’re working hard to resolve this issue and will let customers know when it will be available.”

Three also confirmed that the only handset affected so far is the HTC Desire HD and not the HTC Desire or Desire Z, so we’re assuming that that earlier tweet from @ThreeUK that they were all affected can be disregarded.

It’s now thought that Gingerbread will be hitting Desire HD’s on Three next month – as soon as we hear an official date we’ll let you know here via an update.

We’ve contacted HTC about this and are waiting to hear back.
