Android Wear’s 30 new watch faces up the awesome considerably

If you’re already on the Android Wear bandwagon, today’s update is going to rock your socks.

2014 has proven to be a year dominated by wearables, and although we’re still waiting on Cupertino’s Apple Watch to stake its claim on the market (expected next Spring), the number of Android Wear-toting smartwatches has grown significantly.

Whether you’re rocking an original LG G Watch or the latest Asus ZenWatch, Google’s newly released update for Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a number of notable changes to the Android Wear experience and with it a collection of awesome new watch faces too.

If you’re already rocking an Android 5.0 Lollipop-enabled device like the Nexus 5 or 6, check out Google Play and make sure the Android Wear application you’re rocking is up to date. Owners of Google-friendly wearables will find a new highlighted section on the platform’s website featuring a number of intriguing new watch faces.

The 30 new faces include offerings from designers like Rebecca Minkoff and , to brands like Specialized and even game developers and games including UsTwo (of Monument Valley fame) and Plants vs Zombies. Most of these new watch faces are available free of charge, but a couple of licensed brands, like Namco’s Pac-Man watch face and Illumination’s yellow Minion watch face might set you back a few pennies.

It’s not just watch faces that arrive today, there’s a new dedicated Watch Face API for developers to utilise, which should make it easier for new designs and functionality to make and appearance on the platform.
