Apple has released the iOS 8.0.2 update just a day and a half after pulling iOS 8.0.1, which crocked tens of thousands of iPhones before it was taken down.
We reported just yesterday morning that Apple quickly pulled its first over-the-air update to iOS 8, after the new version buggered up cellular operations and data use for many iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners. Apple promised a fresh, non-crocking version of the update in a few days but has already chucked out iOS 8.0.2, which contains all of 8.0.1’s bug fixes in a hopefully-less-deadly format.
Aside from fixing the iOS 8.0.1 bug that ruined phone signal and data connection for some users, the 8.0.2 update deals with all the bugs previously listed. So now HealthKit apps wil appear on the App Store, third party keyboards won’t be randomly deselected and all legitimate apps should be able to access your photo gallery.
You can update your phone right now by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
Apple stated on Twitter that ‘less than 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices were impacted’ by the new bugs introduced by iOS 8.0.1. That’s still a sizeable portion of new owners who updated, however, and clearly enough to worry Apple as it swiftly pulled the update from servers. Bizarrely, earlier iPhones were not affected by the fresh bugs.
