Archos has taken the wraps off of the Archos G10 xs, Archos Elements and Archos Arnova tablet ranges today at an investor event in Paris.
The one model of the Archos G10 xs range shown looks to not only be one of the thinnest Android tablets announced but the thinnest tablet; at 7.6mm thin it’s a more slender affair than Apple’s new iPad.
The Archos G10 xs tablets will also come with a detachable Qwerty keyboard docks, a la the Asus Transformer Prime.
Archos’s Davis Crohas showed off one mode which, when the tablet and keyboard were docked, had a total thickness of 12mm. Or, in other words, the same thickness of the new iPad plus an Apple SmartCover.
Arctablet, who has provided us with these pics, is saying that Archos will ship the new Archos G10 xs range in September, aiming at a price range of €200-€400 (£160-£330).
Archos Elements 7-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch Android tablets
Alongside the premium Archos G10 xs series is Archos Elements. There’s three versions in this range with 7-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch capacitive touchscreens. These are priced at €129 (£108) €149 (£125) and €199 (£160) each.
Archos Arnova – £40 and £125 tablets with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Perhaps the most interesting announcement though is news of the Archos Arnova range. These two tablets will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be priced at the unbelievably low €50 (£41) and €150 (£125) a piece.
We understand that the two tablets will be more or less the same spec-wise with the main difference being screen types. The cheaper €50 Archos Arnova will have a resistive display (boo!) while the €150 Archos Arnova will have a capacitive one (yay!).
We’re waiting on more information from Archos about its new tablets. Until then, we’ve got this YouTube teaser video below. Exciting stuff; we’re expecting to see more Android laptop/tablets as Ubuntu for Android and Android 5.0 Jelly Bean rolls out.
Thanks to ArchosInfo for the tip.
