Asus NovaGo 2-in-1 Windows device is a media streamer’s dream

The Asus NovaGo is the world’s first Gigabit LTE laptop, thanks to the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 platform packed inside.

If you’ve ever wished that your laptop could stream video or browse the web without so much lag, or didn’t die so quick when you unplugged from the mains, then the Asus NovaGo could be your next portable pal.

This 2-in-1 Windows laptop is the first such device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, which offers up to Gigabit LTE connectivity thanks to its super-charged built-in modem. As well as being a bit nippy when you get online, the NovaGo promises some seriously good battery life, thanks to the Snapdragon’s energy efficiency. All of that in a relatively slim and light frame, which can convert into a tablet at any time.

Asus NovaGo specs

The NovaGo is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, the same platform found in most flagship smartphones from 2017. That includes some of the best handsets, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 and the OnePlus 5T.

As well as strong mobile performance, the Snapdragon offers up to 1Gbps connectivity thanks to Qualcomm’s X16 LTE modem. That’s a theoretical maximum for real world use of course, and UK networks won’t be setup for such speeds for a wee while. All the same, you can rest assured the NovaGo is future-proof when it comes to jumping online.

You have support for both eSIM and Nano SIM when you roam, although the availability of the eSIM may vary depending on where you live. We haven’t been told for sure that this element will come to the UK models, so stay tuned for an update.

We’re also expecting some strong battery life, if Asus’ boasts are on the money. You should get over 30 days of standby on a single charge, while the NovaGo also promises up to 22 hours of video playback. We suspect that’s quite an optimistic measure, although hopefully you’ll get at least a couple of days of full-on use before you need to plug back in.

Asus NovaGo: Pricing and release date

So far we have no UK release date for the new NovaGo, although it’s no stretch to suggest that it’ll hit stores early in 2018. Asus has already revealed that prices will start at just $599 US for the base model, which includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

If you want a bit more grunt and storage space, you can bump up the budget to $799 US for the 8GB model of Asus NovaGo, complete with 256GB of storage.

We should have full UK pricing details very soon.
