EE and O2 have the fastest LTE networks, according to a new report

EE, Vodafone, and O2 all have their LTE networks up and running in London, but who’s the fastest of the bunch? EE, according to a report from Root Metrics. The analytics company has tested all three carriers here in the UK to determine who has the best average LTE speeds.

RootMetric performed over 11,000 tests over 310 miles aross London – a pretty comprehensive assessment, then. The company found that EE has the best average download and upload speeds, sitting at 22.7Mbit/s and 17.8Mbit/s respectively. The next best network was O2, with an average download speed of 16.2Mbit/s and an average upload speed of 8.3Mbit/s.

Vodafone is technically the slowest of the three, with average download and upload speeds measured at 16.2Mbit/s and 8.2Mbit/s. It does have an advantage over O2, though: according to RootMetrics, its LTE service was available in 69.4% of the tests compared to O2’s 63.9%, suggesting that Vodafone’s coverage may be slightly better.

All the other relevant numbers are available to pour over above table, so take those – as well as price – into account before choosing which LTE network to go with.
