Samsung’s Galaxy A-range handsets are mid-range mobile phones that boast solid specs and premium design for between £200 and £350, just a fraction of the cost of the flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone. We’ve already reviewed and loved the Galaxy A5 2016 and Galaxy A3 2016, and now we’ve got our hands on the biggest member of the Galaxy A family, the mighty 5.5-inch Galaxy A7 2016.

Samsung Galaxy A7 2016 hands-on review and unboxing
The Galaxy A7 2016 gives a great first impression thanks to its sexy glass and metal frame, which is reminiscent of the Galaxy S6’s design. It feels hardy, although we’re slightly worried that the glass back panel might crack after a tumble. For a 5.5-inch mobile it’s not too unwieldy either, with an almost identical build to the OnePlus 3.
Media fans should love the 5.5-inch Super AMOLED screen, which is sharp enough to make the most of HD movies and vibrant enough to makes photos really stand out. Hopefully the mighty 3300mAh battery will survive through several hours of movie streaming, but we’ll be testing that out in our full Galaxy A7 2016 review.
The Galaxy A7 2016 packs the same Snapdragon 615 processor as the smaller and cheaper Galaxy A5 2016, which boasted pleasingly smooth performance. So far the A7 seems to be just as smooth, with no stutters or pauses as you load up apps. You can also run two apps side-by-side using Samsung’s multi-window feature, which allows you to browse the web and email at the same time, for instance.
You also get a 13-megapixel rear camera which can shoot Full HD video, using the same Samsung camera interface as the Galaxy S7 and other Sammy phones. It seems to be quick and dependable in our hands-on testing but again we’ll be fully reviewing the Galaxy A7 2016’s camera and letting you know what we think.
