Apple has announced the launch of the US beta for iTunes Match, it’s cloud-based music sharing service.
An email from Apple has been sent to developers, informing them the beta is now available.
iTunes Match was announced at the WWDC earlier this year, the service lets you listen to your music anywhere across multiple devices including your iPhone 4 and iPad 2.
The email states that developers would get an additional three-months subscription free, with their the $24.99 12-month subscription when it launches.
For a yearly subscription cost of $24.99, iTunes Match lets users listen to their non-iTunes music and store 25,000 tracks online.
However instead of re-uploading your entire music collection, it matches all music to the 18 million tunes in iTunes and plays it back at 256Kbps – whether your music was lower or higher bit rate.
In the email Apple states: ‘some features and optimizations of iTunes Match will not be available during the beta.’
There’s still no news when iCloud or iOS 5 will be announced, although we’re guessing it will be along with the iPhone 5 in September.
