Kube will keep your tunes hot and your drinks cool for a mere $1100

Austin-based company Thomas & Darden spent the past four and half years sticking speakers on cooler boxes at parties and Kube is their CES-worthy result.

If you’re a regular party animal who has a bit too much money kicking about, then we’ve got just the thing for you: Thomas & Darden’s Kube, a Bluetooth speaker system which is built around a sizable cooler, allowing you to jam your favourite tracks at the same time as keeping your beer nice and cold.

The Kube boasts high-end, marine quality speakers (by Polk Audio), which should stand up to even the severest of downpours, it also has a Bluetooth range of 50 feet, and offers a chiller big enough to entertain two whole cases of beer or six bottles of Champagne – though the fizzy stuff might be a bit out of your price range once you’ve weighed out the whopping $1099 needed to buy the device!

As if that wasn’t enough, for your money you also get some quality LED mood lighting, enabling you to see what beverages you’re pulling from within the Kube’s cavernous 33-quart (37.5-litre) depths, and USB charging ports, so you can jack some of the device’s juice and keep your phone topped up while you’re having fun.

While we’re on the subject of power, you’ll be pleased to hear that the Kube can run for 20 hours on a single charge – more than enough for even the most enthusiastic social gathering.

The Kube’s made of polymer coated aluminium which we’re assured has been tested to the most rigorous of standards, so you won’t have to worry about the odd knock or scrape damaging it, but for all its bells and whistles there’s one thing missing from the thing, and that’s the ability to actively cool your stuff.

Yep, that’s right, this $1099 Bluetooth speaker-cum-chiller still needs a good, old fashioned bag of ice or two to keep things cool – but we’re sure the 100-decibel speaker will make up for that minor shortcoming. Won’t it?
