Lenovo launches two Android Honeycomb 3.1 tablets

Lenovo has announced its first two Android 3.1 tablets; the business focused ThinkPad Tablet and the consumer-friendly IdeaPad Tablet K1

The ThinkPad Tablet is packed with features designed to appeal to the business users. Citrix Receiver support lets users access networks remotely, the tablet also includes layered data security and anti-theft software. Lenovo’s Good for Enterprise app provides access to corporate email accounts and the Documents to Go app can be used for viewing and editing Microsoft office documents.

Runing an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor the 10.1-inch 1280×800 screen includes IPS technology for excellent off-angle viewing and is made from scratch-resistant gorilla glass.

Connectivity is excellent too – with a full size USB port, SD card, mini HDMI and will be compatible with an optional digitiser pen. There’s also 2GB cloud storage.

Competing more the with Motorola Xoom and Acer W500 the IdeaPad K1 also runs a dual-core Nvida Tegra processor 1280×800 screen is pre-loaded with 40 apps including Amazon and Adobe, native Flash 10.3 support along with a mini HDMI connection. There’s a primary 5-megapixel camera and front-facing 2-megapixel offering.

Unique to both tablets is Lenovo’s SocialTouch app

Lenovo is also launching it’s own Lenovo App Shop, with country-specific apps designed especially for the tablets.

We’re looking forward to seeing the ThinkPad Tablet, it seems to offer some interesting features – could this be the Android tablet for business users?

The IdeaPad Tablet K1 will be arriving first, landing in August for £369, while the ThinkPad Tablet comes out in September for £399.
