LG Optimus 3D release date pushed back to July

Several online stores have revealed that the Optimus 3D won’t be arriving this month.

Both Play.com and Clove have readjusted their delivery dates on the devices. Online retailer Clove announced on its official blog that the no-glasses 3D smartphone will not be delivered this June, and you’ll have to wait a little longer for some portable three-dimensional entertainment.

Pushed back until 11 July 2011, and priced at £455, Clove said it had expected to receive its share of the stock early this month.

Play.com has also adjusted its release date; now pitched at 12 July 2011, curiously a day after Clove. At Play, it’ll set you back £470.

The Optimus 3D is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, and is capable of recording in 3D thanks to a pair of five-megapixel lens on the back. Switching between 3D and 2D is easy thanks to a dedicated button on the side of the handset.

The camera can capture both 1080p 2D and 720p 3D video, in addition to stills. There’s also an extra front-facing camera to let you indulge in video-chat and awkward self-portrait photography.

Expect 8GB of internal storage and a 4.3-inch NOVA display that uses half the power of normal LCD screens.

LG and YouTube have previous announced a partnership to share any 3D made on Optimus 3D phones through the web, and onto any 3D-enabled TV set or PC monitor. Media from the phone can also be shared through the HDMI port to bigger screens.

Although there is a rather small 8GB of storage built into the phone, this can be expanded by up to 32GB through microSD, giving a total of 40GB, hopefully plenty of space for your 3D media collection.
