Those with unbranded and unlocked Windows Phone 7 handsets may find a treat waiting for them when connect their phones to their PC. Reports of the NoDo update appearing when WP7 handsets are connected to the Zune software have begun.
They are however only for European phones without any sort of network affiliation. Those desperate for copy and past with branded WP7 phones may just have to wait.
NoDo brings with it a speedier version of WP7 with quicker apps and games. WiFi, Outlook, Facebook integration and messaging have all been improved. Hardware wise both the camera and handset performance should be improved.
Unlike the problematic Samsung Omnia 7 update which was eventually pulled, there are yet to be any reports of difficulties with the new software. NoDo had been due in January this year but was delayed following the update problems.
A post on the Window Phone Blog confirms that now is about right for the NoDo update release.
I’ve decided to take some extra time to ensure the update process meets our standards, your standards, and the standards of our partners”
“As a result, our plan is to start delivering the copy-and-past update in the latter half of March” said Windows Phone’s Eric Hautala
