Microsoft Surface Pro 4 UK price and release date

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is here and we take you through the various versions available and how much they’ll set you back.

Last night Koko in Central London played host to the UK launch of Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 4, with artwork by Will Barras made using the device adorning the interior and a performance by Rudimental supported by a live orchestra playing music composed on the tablet serving as the headline act.

Showboating aside though, the company originally unveiled the Surface Pro 4 (along with the new Surface Book 2-in-1 and new Continuum-ready Windows 10–powered smartphones) at one of its most memorable keynote presentations in recent times back in October and we’ve been itching to meet the new Surface in person.

The Pro 4 features a lot of notable design improvements over its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3. It packs a larger 12.3-inch, 2736 x 1824 resolution display but maintains the same sized footprint; the detachable Type Cover now boasts keys with wider spacing for a more comfortable typing experience, a larger trackpad and a fingerprint sensor for added security when logging in (currently a US-exclusive feature).

What’s more the pen loop has gone and in its place, the newest Surface Pen (which features interchangeable nibs) snaps to the side of the Surface Pro 4’s body magnetically.

On the inside the Pro 4 packs a new set of processors too, starting with a base model utilising an Intel Core m3 chipset, right up to a new Skylake series Core i7 at the top end. Depending on which processor you favour also affects the amount of memory and storage at your disposal: 128GB/4GB for the m3 version, the same or double for the i5 model and 8GB or 16GB of RAM for the i7 model with 256GB or 512GB if you grab the 16GB skew.

Luckily the new Surface Pen is part of the price tag for this generation, which would otherwise negate one of the main reasons for owning a Surface, however the Type Cover is still an expensive and essential extra that’ll add £109.99 to the price tag of whichever Pro 4 you fancy.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 comes running Windows 10 Pro and launches in the UK from November 12th, starting at £749 and topping out at £1799.
