Motorola Xoom 3G gets pre-launch price-cut at Carphone Warehouse

The Carphone Warehouse have followed Dixons in announcing a price cut for their 3G and WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom. At the new price of £579.99, customers will save £20 from the initial price of £599.99 announced back in March.

This follows Dixons’ announcement earlier this week that it’s now offering the WiFi-only version £20 cheaper than earlier. The 3G version’s new lower price will only be available on Carphone Warehouse’s online store.

According to Carphone Warehouse people, the Xoom will be in stores by mid-April- but the Xoom’s release date has been beset by delays or some sort of muddled-up release date- some sites are still expecting stock this Saturday, while UK review units seem absent.

Despite its delays, the Motorola Xoom still looks set to be the first tablet in the UK to be packing Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb dedicated for tablet use. Random Motorola Xoom fact; it’s the only Android tablet announced so far that has a barometer. Yes, we said barometer.

We’ve been in contact with Carphone Warehouse to check whether customers who have already pre-ordered will get the difference refunded, and will be updating you once we hear back from them.

UPDATE: Carphone Warehouse have been in touch, and all customers who had pre-ordered the tablet at the higher price will be getting a refund of the difference. Their online team are getting in contact with these customers as we speech. Good stuff.
